hey guys!
i hope everyone is starting their summer out with some fun stuffs to do ~ i cannot believe it but it’s already over 100 degrees here in the desert. and the cacti are all in bloom, every year they blow me away with all the color! how i love them. so, i’ve been keeping pretty busy… busy in so many ways! as some of you know james and i welcomed our sweet little boy 2 months ago and we are loving him so much! of course he is magic, amazing, beautiful, wise, advanced beyond his time, brilliant and an all-around genius. a new member of the band. :D
speaking of “the band”, i’m starting to put some musical thoughts together, it’s actually something that i thought i was going to do last year but A Winter Gathering took hold… so now it’s starting to come around once again. the seeds are starting to get planted i guess you can say, for a tasty garden of musical treat-ness.
in other news, we are in the midst of re-working the main site (www.shaunaburns.com) a touch for the summer, we are fiddling around now and hopefully you will see the new-ish-ness soon. i’ll let you know.
we are/have been doing a fun “song of the week” on the facebook music page (www.facebook.com/shaunaburnsmusic). it’s been fun going back into the catalogue and listening to songs… and the videos! memories! i hope you guys are enjoying the trip down memory lane too.
well, hope you guys are keeping slightly cool where you are!
more soon-ish!

“How many times do I have to tell you that ghosts are real and vampires can come for you, like you my mind is playing”
There is a reason that ‘ghosts & vampires’ is the first song on ‘Every Thought’. Realizing you possess your own power can be very enlightening, at least it was for me. This concept was the seed that came through quite a while ago, but like so many times before I had to mull it over for years. You hold your future, it is within you. I like the idea that these strengths are already inside of us, we just need to learn how to protect ourselves and not give into the emotional vampires. The ones that can creep into our space and take what is not theirs. This is the beginning, the clicking of the key in the lock and the listening at the door…. ‘how many times do i have to tell you?’
This week’s song is carefully hand-picked and holds a wonderful place in my heart. All of my music comes from the heart, which hold deep metaphors to experiences in my life, but this one in particular is very special.
Please listen kindly, and with open ears. Although it might not speak the same volume it speaks to me as it does to you, I think everybody can relate to it on some level.
And Fire, the song of the week, is a song with a strong core. It’s surrounded by light and possibility. It’s a sweet song for the soul. It reminds me that surrounding yourself with people and ideas that mirror your soul and embrace your true self is a good thing. It feels nice to be around people that understand you. This song seems to travel a lot to other places but when it comes back it brings gifts. Just make it back, in between dreams.

FOR THE SONG OF THE WEEK!
Get excited, I know I am.
And the song of the week is…
Drum roll please…
You’ll have to go to my SoundCloud link to find out:
The song of the week is “Tumbleweed”, and it is my pleasure to share with all of you how I wrote the song and the meaning behind my lyrics.
Tumbleweed represents the thought of holding a balance between light and dark. An axis. Something so bitter it’s sweet. The dark thought, you are not good enough, there is something wrong with you… thinking you are all alone. This vulnerability that we feel, can be intriguing and ultimately a strong force because it fuels a strength we draw from inside. This thought is coupled with the light thought that love can be seductive, powerful, life changing but it can also be dangerous and at times destructive. This space between push and pull, force and magnetic. These elements are holding the harmony of light and dark as one. You cannot alter fate and tear the soul in half.
Thanks,
Shauna

It’s a full moon again
And I can’t help but act like a freak
When things turn they won’t be the same
They won’t, they won’t and then they will
Then when everyone you love just leaves
And you might as well put me in a vise
And hey say it’s okay
Because I don’t have the slightest clue
Become unglued
And then when everyone you love just leaves
And you might as well put me in a vise
Vampire seeds fall all around us
And all around is us
And Madagascar sounds pretty good
Right now right now and now
Then when everyone you love just leaves
And you might as well put me in a vise
